At our care home in Surrey, we aim to enable our residents to feel at home with the added peace of mind that the best possible care is always on hand.
We believe that there should not be any compromise to our residents' lifestyle just because they are staying in a care home.
We take the time to really get to know our residents; their life story and likes and dislikes. This helps us find them a sense of purpose, a reason to get up in the morning, and a role within our care home community.
Our residents are stimulated by meaningful activity. If an activity is not already offered we will endeavour to get it up and running. Many of our most popular activities were actually started by our residents, including our infamous knitting circle.
This approach is often referred to as person-centred care or activity-based care, but we see it as simply caring for each of our residents as a person, rather than a patient.
We actually prefer the term 'enable' to the word 'care'. Our ethos is based on enabling our residents to live a fulfilled life; to improve their overall well-being. Of course, we do care, but whenever possible, we will enable our residents to care for themselves.
